Student Placement Center Elementary and Secondary students, both new or returning to the Saint Paul Public Schools, are processed by the Student Placement Center. The Student Placement Center is located at 2102 University Ave W., on the corner of University and Cleveland Ave. The Student Placement Center provides:
- An assessment of the students's academic and language skills
- Referral to Special Education services, when necessary
- Information regarding schools and programs
- Health assessments
- Early Childhood Screening for children ages 3 - 5, prior to entering Kindergarten. To schedule an Early Childhood Screening appointment, call 651-632-3746.
Health Office The Health Office at the Student Placement Center is staffed by district school nurses and educational assistants. The health office staff:
- Assess, plan, and document health issues for students
- Initiate plans for students with chronic illness or special needs
- Provide vision and hearing screening and initiate referrals
- Serve as a resource to families and students regarding health concerns and health insurance coverage
- Serve as a resource to families and students regarding community resources
- Assess immunization status of students and provide required immunizations to students without insurance or with insurance coverage under a Minnesota Public Health Program
- Assess tuberculosis risk and provide tuberculin skin test as appropriate
- Provide Early Childhood Screening
